1. Sonata can already recognize mommy and daddy.  She can follow us as we move around, turning her head from side to side.
2. She's really gassy.  Guess she's taking alot of air in when feeding.  So she's uncomfortable alot of the time. Crying and grunting alot
3. Had to take her to pediatrician cuz she stopped pooping for a day.  She's 7lbs 12oz now.

Delivery Story

Everyone told us that because it was our first child we'd probably deliver late, we'd go to the hospital a bunch of times and they'd send us home, the labor would be long and grueling...

But we got caught a bit by surprise when Kaew started having very painful contractions a week before her due date.  I (dad) shrugged it off as just the beginning of a week long process.  I also wanted to avoid multiple 30 minute drives to the hospital.

April 11th was Kaew's mom's birthday, so we met her family for dim sum in San Francisco.
During which, Kaew ate 4 bbq pork buns (and about 20+ other things).  This is partly how Sonata got her new email address mybbqporkbun(at)gmail.com.

After lunch, we came home and relaxed for a while, until Kaew started having intense contractions for the first time all pregnancy.  I tried to help her relax, but wasn't much help.  So i started making some dinner for us.

After Kaew and I ate dinner, we started watching Couple's Retreat, that movie starring Vince Vaughn.
The intense laughing from the movie seemed to make the contractions go away.

At about 1030pm we went to bed.  At about 12:30am, Kaew woke me up with more intense pain.
It took about 2 hours of this for her to convince me to call the doctor.  I mistakenly tried to follow all books and time the contractions and make sure they lasted long enough yada yada.  That didn't matter.  After I got a hold of the OB.  He told us to go to the hospital right away.

We arrived at the hospital at about 3:30am on the 12th. Kaew was already 5-6cm dilated!
Kaews face was white when she heard it.  She was afraid she wouldn't be able to get an epidural.
Her white face turned green, as the nausea kicked in and she couldn't keep my cooking down.
But 20 minutes later, she was sitting pretty with a nice cool epidural in her back, then scarfing down a orange popsicle to stay hydrated.

Kaew's sister, Pui, joined us in the hospital. And we took a few hour nap as we waited for further dilation.
At about 10am, they started Kaew pushing the baby.  In about an hour, she had progressed so fast that the nurses were afraid she'd deliver before the doctor arrived.

They hurriedly called the doctor.  But he had to come from Oakland to the hospital in SF.  They told Kaew to stop pushing and basically to hold it in.  Which I can only imagine is very hard and painful.

The rest is history.  Baby Sonata Love Go was born at 12:43pm April 12th 2010.  She weighed 7lbs 1.3oz and measured 21inches in length.
